The Workforce Development Strategy, published by Starlight, on behalf of SoHPS, Skills for Health and Starlight, was launched at the SoHPS conference in June 2024
Broad purposes:
- To provide a strategic framework for the health play professional sector to grow and develop routes to qualification
- To help raise the profile and improve the status of health play professionals
- To make proposals to the government and the NHS on the needs to develop this part of the children’s health workforce
AIMS of the strategy:
- To grow and develop the health play workforce to meet the needs of all children in the healthcare system as described in the playwell toolkit guidance and standards.
- To achieve recognised, sustainable, equitable professional status for health play practitioners.
- To resource the HPS profession with the right skills and qualifications to support the guidance and standards recommendations.
- To future-proof the health play profession through career pathways, training and mentoring
