Every year, following the annual re-registration and audit period, the Registration Standards Committee meets to review and revise the re-registration process in response to feedback from registrants and assessors. The Committee is now in a position to share the following updates.
- The 2026 revision of the CPD Profile Guidelines is now available to view and download from the website.
- The Guidelines document is supported by a video which offers a step-by-step guide to compiling the CPD Profile.
- The Exemplar Profiles have also been updated with extracts from the CPD Profiles of this year’s winner and nominees for the Profile of the Year Award. The Committee congratulates all nominees and thanks them for agreeing to share these aspects of their work.
From 2027, there will be two principal changes, affecting both annual re-registration and the CPD audit, which are outlined below.
- The Annual Re-registration Form will include an option to re-register even if you are not practising as an HPS (or in a related role) at the time of your application. This is to accommodate registrants who are on protected leave, on sabbatical, or job-seeking. The non-practising applicant will be required to email registration@sohps.org.uk with a date for their return to practice before submitting their re-registration application. If this is not possible, the non-practising registrant will be advised to lapse their registration until they are ready to return, at which time they will be required to submit a Late Re-registration Application.
- The Part 3 Mentor Reflection and Evaluation will be incorporated in the CPD Profile to further reduce the mentor workload. It will no longer be necessary for mentors to submit a separate Mentor Reflection and Evaluation.
If a registrant has acted as an HPS mentor during one or more years of the audit period, one of their reflective accounts must relate to their mentoring experience. It should include 5 links to the mentoring standards as well as 2 links to SoHPS’ Professional Standards.
We would like to remind all registrants of the importance of maintaining the confidentiality and anonymity of 3rd parties in their profile submissions. Failure to do so represents a breach of SoHPS’ Professional Standards and was the main reason for the deferral of profiles in 2026.
