As we come towards the close of 2024 I thought I would use this time to reflect on a busy, rewarding and successful first part year of the Society of Health Play Specialists.
All the volunteer Trustees and Co-opted members of the Board have tirelessly shared their time, skills and professional knowledge as we developed and delivered workstreams and make plans for 2025.
A few highlights:
- Publication of the Professional Standards, Code and Ethical Framework
- The Annual conference in London and Study day in Leeds, the Hugh Jolly Memorial Lecture
- Meeting with NHS Suppliers to add registered Health Play Specialist to the uniform standards for NHS England
- Working in Partnership with Starlight and NHS England on the workforce strategy, toolkit and standards
- Partnership working with ODN’s on service delivery networks
- Website development

In 2025 we will highlight key workstreams for the members of the Board and the contributions they make on a regular basis throughout the year.
As I stop and reflect on some of the completed or ongoing working workstreams, I am very proud and delighted to Chair the Society in its early development. The commitment and support of the Board, Julia the Registration Co-ordinator, Margaret the Administrator and Tom the Webmaster are keen partners in our work and wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
To all registrants and those who are interested in our work, thank you for your questions, support and patience this year as we worked through the development of the Society.
We thank you for the outstanding work you deliver daily to families in challenging situations, we wish you a Merry Christmas and Seasonal greetings
Tina
